ARTCLOTH: ENGAGING NEW VISIONS exhibition

The ArtCloth movement is gaining significant momentum in England, Europe, Asia, New Zealand, Australia and North America. This inaugural international exhibition, ‘ArtCloth: Engaging New Visions’, will introduce leading practitioners in this new artistic movement to Australian art practitioners, academics, art critics and the wider arts audience.
This will be the first time that many of the distinguished international artists will be exhibiting their work in Australia.
Twenty-one artworks will be exhibited, with each artwork approximately 1m x 3m in size.
The exhibition showcase’s works that explore innovative print, mixed media and stitch techniques. The exhibited works are as diverse as their makers ranging from digital technology, dye sublimation, snow and hydrosulfite discharge, glazes and patinations, deconstructed screen printing, photography, itajime shibori, paper and cloth lamination, found materials, natural dyes, batik, piecing and stitching.
The exhibition, 'ArtCloth: Engaging New Visions, will be held at Fairfield City Museum and Art Gallery, Sydney, Australia from the 29th August - 11th October 2009. To be opened at 2.00pm Saturday, 29th August by Joan Truckenbrod, Professor of Art & Technology, The School of the Art Institute of Chicago, USA.
The exhibition will then tour to Orange Regional Gallery, New South Wales, from the 9th April – 30th May 2010 and to Wangaratta Gallery, Victoria, from the 11th December 2010 to 23rd January 2011.

Addendum:
Marie-Therese Wisniowski is a studio artist, lecturer, author and moreover, the curator of the exhibition. She specialises in the area of Art Cloth and Limited Edition Prints. The former Director of Fairfield City Museum & Gallery, Susan Hutchinson, and the present Director, Cedric Boudjema, have been instrumental in bringing this exhibition to Australia.
