Hi Miichael looks like your the last standing on the EPPM web site. Thanks for all the hard work you have put in this year on the web site we need a lot more artists baring their soles on line. HAHAHA seems like artists take a lot more notice of My space hype than an artists run web site. But next year we will be trying to coax those artists out there to greater contributions on our site. More scans I see is that mud or some one being sick on Barbie. HAHAHA reminds me of the Melbounre fashion sence at the racers frocks annd mud. Horse flue no wonder god knows what people do those those poor race horses all in the name of money. Still I guess there are people who like flogging animals for the hell of it also. Hey theres a pun flogging Fashion maybe we should bet on fashion week hahahahaha. Ok have fun hope to see you at the EPPM show.

Thank god for MZ he has keep the EPPM site alive for the last year, SOOO where is every one else in the printmaking community, to busy having tea and scones I guess. Michael another amazing work which works arounf the idea of the publication and the truths and transferences of contempory visual laugage within media terms. I particularly like the split page, which challeges the idea of truth. Can't wait to see your work in the show at the FPS in October hahaha I can imagine a few old printmakers and a few young ones for that matter falling of their chairs in shock that the world has really moved on since the 1500 century hahahaha. Hi Michael Z great prints for the 2006 hope to see you in this years digital photography only portfolio. Hope you enjoyed my surfing ref and false gods tiger. I esp like your fasle gods work the list which mirroed the part list at the front of the portfolio, hard hitting stuff but must be said. Yeap agree Fine art sedation seems like the multi media exposition is over and now their training everyone to admin the arts. But it's a good time to be an artist, Borate won all the hollywood trophy's so nows the time to go in for the knock out The artists who are now left to clean up the mess of the howard and keating years will turn the art world in Australia up side down. As issues are now becoming main stream as far as saving the world goes, their are gaps opening for the more effective artists to cut the wounds of the political and media circles open even wider. But People need people power, I don't believe every one is listerning as they are still consuming and driving their cars around the corner to supermarket hahahaha. But yes Michael Z excellent work as usual.

Hi Michael F, will comment on your last year's images when uploaded (top stuff). Arts administration - 'Cold not cool'. Yes, I like Borate's style but I'm not sure about his 'long socks with sandles with hot-pants look' though. I also love Monty Pythons early work, some of Mr Bean's stuff, nearly all of Cath and Kym's view-points, all of Little Briton's humour but my favourite is Aunty Jack's (I'll rip your bloody arms off!) early black and white images. Currently I'm doing two more works in the 'Sedition' series (earth and wind; done 'fire and water') before I uplaod a few Oz pre-election concepts, just for my old mate Johnny and his faction gang of environmental destroyers (polars meltdown). With this series I want to do a sex/gender balance of images and display in a practical way 'equality', not as some decision making processes are publically shown to be within the arts and yarts worlds of today. This image is also based on TV documentaries about the current meth-ice plague that is hitting Oz and quickly killing it's users.

Powerful image Michael Z. World povety is at an all time high. But here in Australia we worry about house morgages and car repayments. Be better to burn the credit cards and start doing the green thing to save ourselves so we could help others I think.

Hi Michael F, no poverty stricken model or person with a mental disability was exploited for image purposes in the creation of this art work and I'm glad to see 'POVERTY' on the 2008 theme list possibilities. This is the first of two Combo Techno prints to do with environmental, mood types. This being the 'burning' mood type and the next (coming soon) will be the 'frozen' mood type. One small aspect that inspired this work is the recent 'debate' with some Oz govt. sectors dictating what is "SEDITIOUS" art in a country which promotes freedom of speech and thought. NAVA (EPPM receive funding from NAVA) are right onto it. Read what you can and can't do 'artistically' @ www.visualarts.net.au and @ www.artslaw.com.au/ArtLaw/06SeditionAndTheArts.asp

I want proof, I want cold hard cash figues etc. Why not just canel 3rd world debt or give a million bucks to each poverty stricken individual. Why not give them a passport to Australia, USA, Europe, Asia etc plus a million in the pocket. Lets face a billion is a thousand million if they have 26 Billion then that's 26 thousand people who could have a million each plus a passport to the so called free world. But it won't happen.

Michael F, you will never get the proof of where the cash goes. It's all a cheap promotional trick for the rich to ease their guilty mind sets. Some fund raising organisations cream off up to 85% to 95% of donated money for administration costs and then the rest 'may' get to where the donor intended it to go. World mission (Costello - not Elvis) agents and the like whom prey on the poverty stricken with 'oh-so-sad' images are a rotton, shrewd and capitalistic lot, lineing their own pockets. As for cashed-up entertainers, it's all attention seeking and tax avoidance to keep up their own self-promotation (wolves in sheep's clothing), a truely vile lot of international $$$ predators. How is it that these predators of misery can't even see the needs within their own State, country, community (what is that historic concept?), extended relation group or even their own personal family group. But hey it's all buying your way into heaven if you are a Zionist/Christian or paradise if you are Islamic or etc.... Don't be conned by the thieves, it's all about bums on seats which equals cheque-books in pockets. Those that have and give the most often have the biggest and greatest guilty thought patterns because of how they got their wealth in the first place. For someone to get richer somebody somewhere else has to get poorer and poorer. Who was that that just made a 4.2 billion dollar profit on the sale of a media lot? Is it possible for one person to eat that much food in a life-time? Where are the angels of death, famine and pesterlance living?

I read the article on Julia Wilson from the USA, I'd like to see her as a guest artist on EPPMI, I think she would liven things up! As for me getting a visit from the 'thought police', please come, I hope they would be big, fat, obese ones also, as I'd like to help them burn their fat off trying to physically get to sit down and chat with me. EPPM need all artists to take the bull by the horns next year and promote and show the portfolios to as many artists as possible. The best way to get new artists to participate is word of mouth. EPPM are advertising in Photofile and Imprint ever quater over the next year, but believe me when it comes from an artist like your self others prick up their ears and start asking questions.

Hi Michael interesting work. Guns what are they good for nothing. I though we had banned them for personal use but there still seems to be a person shot every day in Australia somewhere. MMM next years themes war, peace and freedom should get the gun thing happening. Now a camera shop would be more interesting. Been going through every know printmaking book, and it has occurred to me that photography is missing in the history of print. Not as a transference but as a medium it self. And why are all the photographers put into the collection of photography. Photography is mechanical, it can be editioned like any other print medium. It's like graphic design where are all the examples of great graphic design in the print archives and book etc. Well this is a real invitation to all the photgraphers and graphic designers out there to come on board for the 2007 - 2008 portfolio. Appication now on line folks lets get it going huge in 2007.

Oieh Michael, no, this is not the interior of my print studio and yes, the spelling in the print is correct as in Tasmania there are 'guns' and then there is 'Gunns'. I took the background photo (after getting permission from the owner) in a second-hand shop. I have been in numerous shops where you can buy guns over the counter at the same time as you get your 'milk and paper'. Since the recent massive 'gun buy back' and recent horrible gun related events, one would think that the culture would have changed but what I have seen does not suggest that. Is there still a place for pacifists whom believe "Thou shalt not kill"? But now what about Gunns Ltd proposal to build the world's "greenest" pulp mill at Bell Bay, Tasmania? Don't you just love the thought of eating seafood tainted with solphur dioxide, smelling the odours in the air and seeing effluent containing toxic metals, dioxins, organochlorines, etc. Visit Tasmania, yes, but bring your bullet-proof thermal-underwear with you when you come.

The last election spelt out excactly what Tasmania wanted and that was to be able to chop down more trees. It was the nail in the coffin of the labour party guy mmm what was his name the punchy one. Always been a place of guns. Don't see it changing in the near future. Do they have a green energy account on there billing for gas and electricity. In Victoria you pay $2 a week more and that goes towards sustained energy research in Victoria. Interested to know if they have it there. Other wise thanks for the info on the gun crisis down there.

Don't know about gas, I don't have it on but I tried to get the feeling in my image of looking into a gas/electric/solar oven; a place where you wouldn't want to put in your hand. Interesting work Michael. The hole in the ground. Where will it all stop. Interesting when I was in Melbounre there was a Barbara Kruger show on at ACCA. There was a video room set up with 4 projector monitors onto the 4 walls of the space. The Projection were of people talking to each other across the space. The conversations were bitter and fued like. Even though most of the conversations were placed in fast food outlets or living rooms. Parents and Children, youth groups, etc. The work was very fustrating in its complex phycotic pattens of speech. The media plays on our fustrations as private individuals who have no control over the volience of war. Im glad you are not sitting there being passive about the volience in the world. Stand up for our rights.

Yes, where will it all stop? Message chat: This photograph was purchased from a second hand shop in North West Tasmania. The caption written under it was: "One of the last Tasmanian tigers shot in Batty's chookhouse at Mawbanna in 1935". To my understanding, it was listed as endangered by the Tasmanian State government in 1936 and then it was illegal to kill them from that year on. Medium chat: I liked the way Paul Thirkle used text in his print in the 2005 portfolio - sort of merged into the image. This inspired me with my last two images. As for 'psychotic patterns of speech' this is discussed in depth in an article by Alan Watts titled: 'The Value of Psychotic Experience' @ http://deoxy.org/w_value.htm When reading his article different artist's images from PNP come to mind.

Text, speech, very important to make it clear. Although understanding comes on different levels. Im working on some works at the momoment which rely on the text. An etching with the word etching all over the plate. A lithograph with the word lithograph all over the stone. A digital print with the word digital print all over the paper etc etc. Why. To identify the mediums. Why. Because there are lot of printmaking mediums. This of coarse only the physical issue of the print. The other is the control. Media control. Who owns it, who uses it. Printmedia artists can use it, but how do they get their images involved. It's fine to stay in the boundrys of the gallery, but the media mongals never went there and never will. Even the public have switched long ago to the commercial hype of commercail media. So to identify and reason with the reality's of where artists and commercial artists are placed is the political agenda. For eg There are NO WORKING GRAPHIC DESIGNERS in the histoy of EPPM. Graphic design differs in aproach to the arts
designersare trained to produce products not to think politics. Company' use so called think tanks to sell anything to the public. If there are any graphic designers out there who think im talking a whole lot of bullshit. Then show us what your got in 2007 and apply for one of our exchanges. Ill give the first designer to come on board a prize. HAHAHAHA.

Hi Z, This print reminds me of the lootings of the pyramids in Egypt. I went down into the bowels of one of the pyramids to be encased in a very dusty, dimly lit, empty (of course) space. It was very difficult trying to breathe in that space due to the dust and lack of air. Your print gives me the same eerie feeling I had at that time. . . capturing the scent of death, mystery, history, awe, the ghost of times long past and many other responses. Is this site really in Bothwell? Can you tell us of its historical significance please.
. -MTW - 6/03/2006

Hi, MTW -(Marie-Therese), yes, this image is from 5 Dennistoun Road, Bothwell, Tasmania. How did it came into my hands? The next door neighbour's wife, desperate for a sale due to a nasty divorce (I no longer live in Bothwell but have now moved to the "coolest" part of Tasmania) wanted to sell her/his place to me and in the process proudly showed/gave me photos of the crypt in the back yard as a positive asset to purchasing the property. It is in the left hand/front corner of the property, between 'Rock Cottage' and "Thanks Cottage", cleverly covered now by a rose garden so people don't no about it. The property has sold 'x' times without the owners knowing of it's existance. There are 3 skeletons in the crypt, 2 adults and 1 child. An living, local, aboriginal descendant told me that years ago, 3 missionaries whom moved and lived there on that site in 1826 went missing. He thinks that this is their remains. The 'organised, religious building' (church, ?) that was built on the block was burnt down and they disappeared and the current cottage on the block was rebuilt from the bricks/stones from that building. This site should be classified by the National Trust but doing that would restrict the future sale of the site. Better to shut-up and keep quiet so 'development' can proceed. For Sale? Human Remains? Buy Tasmanian Real Estate? Scccchhh! Nobody say anything! All just shut-up?

Unfortunately the comments re 1826 missionaries, 'organised religious building' burnt down, etc are nonsense. The block, like "Thanks Cottage" was once owned by Robert Blake. The land was originally granted to Taylor in the 1820s but he failed to take up the grant. It then was occupied by Cockerill. Blake was granted the entire block on Denniston Rd between Alexander Street & Elizabeth St in 1855. Blake built his house (recently named 'Thanks Cottage') in the late 1860s (ie not in the 1850s which I was told was the date given in a recent sale!)
In 1859 Blake gave the block between his house site ("Thanks Cottage") and Rock Cottage to the Trustees of the Weslyan Methodist Church and a WM Chapel was built on the site at that time. There were burials in the chapel grounds, including the Blakes. The crypt is obviously just one of these burials. No burial register exists.
The chapel fell into dis-use by 1900 and was pulled down soon thereafter and the stone re-cycled as 'Barwick Cottage' in High Street Bothwell.
If not known by owners, the fact that there were burials on the site was well known in historical circles in Bothwell and elsewhere. The crypt was exposed accidently a few years ago and your photo taken before it was re-covered.
Sorry the facts are less prosaic than the story.

All we saw was some poor farmer in the back blocks of romania, sacking up a few chickens. Still we got to stop treating animals like really bad Neil a la young ones. I used to think the turner prize was a silver spoon for UK artists. MMMM maybe but you still have to work your butt off to get in. The 4 artists this year were as diverse, ranging from pop fashion to thoughtful green poets. All were 20 years into their trad as artists, all had been working showing, archiving, mass producing. In my book they all deserved the 25000 which is a drop in the ocean. Basically you would have a hard time living in London on this for a year. Still the art school here on the other hand are full of silver spooners, you see them swanning around with there snooty noses, dissing this dissing that, believing the press believing what their tutors tell them to believe. Still youth have fun while your still young but hey don't believe the hype.

The 3 main inspirational humans to influence me on this work are 1: Leigha White's etching, "The music ate my shoes" - it's almost all white gift (see Leigha's work on PNP site), 2: Jenny Kitichiner's lino print, "Harbinger: Scroll A" - it's delicate emphasis to detail (see Jenny's work on PNP site) and 3: music wise, well I think if music dose not go with any art/yart work than forget it and trash it out of existence, so # 3 infelince is Nina Simone, singing "Here Comes The Sun" - quote Nina, "Everybody has gone to the moon". Thank you to these 3 women at 2005.

Art chokes. Not sure if its art that chokes more like the system that chokes the artist. Working again in the arts shows me the strain artists are under. The presure to show constant, publise, web sites, media releases, gallerys, curators, grants , prizes, teaching etc etc. All ads up to lots of time and money. Not to mention 90% of artists have a second job usually boring like cafe work etc. Any one out there want to have a go make our day corparate slave see how you go with out your dollar saftey net hahaha. In a recent article on 'Perspective' by J Rankin-Reid, titled: 'Conspiracy of Silence on Art Issues', followed on from what has been already mentioned. Eg. '...when it comes to speaking out about the lamentable state of arts infrastuctures.... an extremely uncomfortable silence prevails', '...for state and national visual arts organisations and artists dependent upon successful funding applications....handing back the taxpayer's dough comes with some pretty thick strings attached', '...committee members over-riding creative professionals'recommendations; of artists feeling betrayed and compromised by under funded, ill-concieved public art projects; and schemes which which keep going nowhere...', '...can any one of these highly educated professionals speak out publicly about their concerns?', '...notible shortfalls in critical standards of artistic excellence...an extremely uncomfortable silence prevails', '...so afraid to speak out about the problems they're continually facing?', '...parties(political) simply see the arts as something best worn only when cameras are rolling?', 'Until this changes, the public will go on paying the high price of this sanctioned disappearance of artist's identies and views from vital issues affecting their livelihoods. When asked this painful question last month, a kindly, well-placed soul took the time to re-educate me in how it all works for artists in the new...."I'd love to be able to talk to you about.... but we can't afford to disagree with anyone in authority if we want to go on doing business in...'. So this was gist of the article. "Ssssscccchhhh! (the still pond theory - make no ripples)- nobody say anything - artichoke for dinner?".

MF, Yes, the truth will set you free but it may also shoot you in your foot also. I have written 6 issues/evolution in
relation to EPNPM which I would like to chat about and 364+ issues in relation to art/yart in Australia that I would like to chat about on pieces of paper, cut them/folded them up, dropped them into a container and will now pick out an item and chat about it. There are some items which I hope I will not pick out, and hope other EPNPM artists will initiate discussion instead of myself/yourself. Anyway - so here goes - I'm reaching in and choosing a topic! There are some topics I hope I don't pick out but being honest to myself whatever topic I pick out at random, I will discuss to the best of my ability, experience and knowledge. OK, I've just read it and it is "EDUCATION AND THE ARTS INDUSTRY - Pre/K school to PhD". Great(?), I was hoping somebody else would blogg/chat about this. Anyway give me some time to think about it and then I'll chat.

Briefly and without going on too much, my evaluation of the 'Australian Art's Education Industry' is as follows. I think that some of the best creative, art education happens in two sectors (generally) - the Preschool/Kinder sector and the TAFE sector. For example: the encouragement of freedom of expression is reflected in Preschool programs and is demonstrated in practice and end products. Well done (generally) to all Ozi Preschool staff. In TAFE, just look at any recent art courses which are offered in any State. For example: go to www.adulteducation.tas.gov.au and check out what is offered in art education. Excellent, relevant, meaningful and useful. An interesting course I read about is offered by Dr. Douglas Ezzy (essence: contemporary witchcraft and it's links to feminism). Somebody is talking! Primary art education - pretty dead generally but not as dead as secondary art education. In secondary art education (generally) all of the curriculums and programs should all be burnt, thrown out and rewritten (so should most of the staff). Secondary is beyond dead art education. TAFE (useable) programs should only be offered as a choice for secondary students. This would be easy to do but 'Secondary' hates TAFE's guts and never wants to cooperate because it's a threat to changing and rocking the boat/system for progress. I will not go so far as to say secondary art education is the pure evil which destroys so many creative minds and opportunities - no I won't say that. For TAFE art education I can't rave enough! Then for art colleges, art university and similar higher art educational bodies - well it's all nice and 'fat cat' for those whom have sold themselves out to a lecturing/teaching position in such an environment. The 'old saying those that teach can't do (personal great art)'. This is when the student hopefully realises what "Art Industry" means and how they are a part of that industry simply because they are there following their dream. Can dreams/individuals be processed in terms of industry? I think so. It's just not a very nice thing to watch in operation, that is the art industry processing plants in operation (neither are abattoirs). Suck 'em in then vomit/spew 'em out! But hey all the predators are getting their hugh morgages paid off - so keep on sucking and 'please' don't stop!

"Nice", such a nice word. I try not to use it to much. It's difficult not to be a part of the art industry in some way especially if you were born with only a plastic/wooden spoon in your mouth as opposed to being born with a silver spoon in your mouth. If you can afford do your art with as least as possible contact with the industry the better for you, the individual I have found. At least most of the Oz art industry is monitored/checked today - never was even 20 years ago though, at least that's a positive. So that's (generally) the chat about the art's industry in Oz. Others may see it differently as each has a different pathway to take than each other in searching for their 'art' dream. Now what about the unmonitored side of the Ozi art scene 'the comercial art gallery scene' (the lies; the verbal, physical and sexual harassment of artists; commissions of up to 90% and you pay for and do everything, etc...)? I'm working on a print titled: "Out deal the art dealer" so will chat about all that aspect then.

Z, you have captured exactly the black mood felt by those who didn't share the majority voice/vote in the recent elections. As to what is Ozi Neo-Liberalism well you coined that phrase well and some of its implications. We need to remember that History doesn't repeat- not exactly-it takes weird and awful combinations of things that've gone before and directions we may be heading...what convoluted concoctions is this country headed for...

Teece, for a greater explanation of what Ozi Neo-Liberalism is about go to "GOOGLE" search and type in the words Neo-Liberalism or go straight to http://www.globalexchange.org/campaigns/econ101/neoliberalDefined.html: a joint article by Elizabeth Martinez and Arnoldo Garcia. An excellent example of two non-related writers co-operating together to expose truth and realism. But for what Ozi?

Thankyou Z that was a clear concise article neatly headed "Economics 101" as a person who did a banking certificate and graduated second in my class I can say that they touched on the pertinent points of the history of economic "Strategy".Elizabeth Martinez is also an artist who has authored a photographic history collection. Good to see well rounded individuals at work.3 points stuck out for me.How blinkered the man when in the street can be- our infrastructure is falling down around our ears. How long before all the pipes and wirings underground fail and need replacing. Just recently in America a 150yr old gas pipe exploded with vehemance killing more than six people- and they were in the country camping not the city-the pipe just "failed".Look at the state of all our public utilities (most even being sold off globally).Second, why does the establishment not care- the answer to that is arbitrage- buy where cheap and sell where you can make a profit. The Mr Marcos quoted in the article is correct when he says "Because they want to see the whole world as a shopping mall- to be able to buy Indians, children, women and even countries" as it suits them.We are loathe to realise we and our surroundings are being treated as disposable eventually.Third, blame the victim is heavily at work here- if in this promised time of economic plenty and freedom for all the little person can't "Make It" or even meet their needs for say housing and healthcare or survive the rising cost of living against falling real wages we say it is the individual's fault. This is a very ugly way of turning humanity against itself. Once again your pertinent image Z, highlights for me the stink of empty promises loaded with danger and dressed up in the dregs of good and plenty. thankyou for this strong image.

This is a pristine, clean and beautiful image. Beauty Mate and Check Mate to any of MZ's private critics. It also contains this controversial artist's troubling inclusions which I suggest viewers enlarge the image to get the close-up effect of. I like this image as I felt it clear and coherent and stands alone. A picture says a thousand words and this one says ten thousand or more. My initial response to this image was strong. I could have taken the easy way out and waited to see what other viewers thought of it first before responding -as when I go deeper into it- it is very thought provoking on several levels.

In a beautiful environment one poor little blighter isn't welcome. The Tassie devil is being thrown out of Paradise.
Why? What has s/he done to deserve this? Doesn't humankind heed the wake-up call that everytime we lose one of earth's "meant to be here" citizens we are doing unfathomable, irrepairable damage to the eco-system. Damage we can't even guess at. Sins we commit and sins we do by omitting. We should have learned our lessons w the canetoad and the fox- they should've never of been introduced. And it is the same w the animals we so recklessly remove from the environment.Meanwhile we place great emphasis on the superficial of lining our dens or our pockets or artificially trying to enhance our looks and what for? Every smallest creature has a place if we are to call this planet ark not planet blitzed zone. MZ tell us more about what these creatures are suffering/ how and by whose hands.
Are they close to the fate of the Tassie Tiger?

Sadly the Tasmanian devil is headed for extinction (who cares?) aided once again by State government policy as was once State government policy to eradicate/hunt/kill the Tasmanian Tiger. It has been proven that the airel spraying of chemicals/poisons by Gunns Forestry Limited (owned and run by the State Tasmanian Labor Party) has been responsible for the recent epidemic and spread of the cancerous, facial tumors quickly wiping out the OZ devils. Also the Farmers Union (National Yard Hand Party) encourages airel spraying of crops, especially "poppies", (legalised opium, narcotic trade). Again, money over the environment. A local aboriginal friend (decendant of the Big River tribe, almost all wiped out by the infamous "black line" invader hunt) told me that one of the hardest things she has to do is to shoot/kill Tasmanian devils that she sees with the facial tumors. She said that some are so bad that you can see through parts of their bodies and faces. Some are dragging rotton flesh behind them as they walk. The Tasmanian devil was her tribes totem and still is (if you are Christian, imagine having to shoot Jesus over and over but I suppose a lot still do recrucify him at organised, religious communion). This week Gunns Forestry Limited admitted to poisioning the water supply at St. Helens on the North/East coast of Tasmania through airel spraying and the laying of 1080 poison. All creeks and underground water supplies are poisioned. The local doctor has had to treat numerous strange conditions appearing in her patients. Recently at (name withheld) State School, all students and staff were covered in chemical/poison spray at a sports carnival when a local farmer was airel spraying his 'mega-buck' poppy crop which grows next to the school. He didn't count on the change and force of the wind. However, Miso, I have held a little, female Tasmanian devil in my hands. She was so pretty and beautiful. I then let her go. Man can they run. And I don't blame them.

Your "who cares" really bothers me Z. Th old code of consumer courtesy in business used to say/says that for every happy customer there are ten more out there and for every disgruntled one maybe a hundred or thousands who don't tell you their complaints to your face.So one can hope that there are more people out there as represented by each "voice in the wilderness".It is certainly time to hope the Green Movement has come of age as we are running out of time and options except for the hard choices. Money alone and stocks and shares can't feed us or recreate lost parts of the biosphere such as creatures and the environment we are abusing. We have to let go of false self-protection thru perceived status over superficial things.Vote Green now Australia. Add your voice to those who care. Look at how in Europe and even Japan and China the green and wilderness movements are trying to arrest the planet's slide into oblivion...make a donation, make a contribution, do some provocative artwork but most of all vote with your feet...why do you see right thru me...because the devastation only leads to it's logical limit..destruction, disease, suffering and death. We not only need money for motgages and pencils and PC's for school kids we need to ensure Gaia's/ the planet's quality of life and health! The Tassie Tiger and Devil tell us a lot with their plight- there next go you and I...it's as bad and as simple as that!!You know what to do!

Art faking it I don't think so the flowers are so nice thanks Michael reminds me of spring and sunny summer afternoons in fields of strawberry flowers all over the green cliffs of france. But the faking it, don't know if you can at this stage of your artistic career you're been at it to long and to many people know you for the fab artists you are. Its like trying to say Worhol faked it, no way he was a great. But maybe the fake you point at is art full stop. Well I think right at the moment getting Johny out of politics and the greens in will produce a feild of flowers for us all to enjoy. TC and MF, I'm glad to know somebody has enjoyed the release of endorphines through their scamata and blood stream. I was challenged to do a series of images about 'beauty' (more to follow) after being told that: "I don't reckon you can see anything beautiful in life, let alone do artworks displaying beauty in context, all you can see is all the negative uglyness in life. And as for I.T. (information technology), it is the most fake, low-life, trailer-park-trash form of printmaking that exists. Why don't you choose at least a 'quality' form of printmaking to work with? Look at Margaret Preston's wood-block prints of flowers and see what I mean or even drop printmaking altogether and do oils on canvas". Now having said all of that realistic, background "blogg' to the art print; would you like to hear the non-realistic, fake and partly fictional story that came to mind before I accidently found and photographed the yart image for this print? It's cultural motivating essence?

The cry of the misunderstood artist; 'The public haven't got a clue'. Its artists who havn't got a clue and the problem is too much public subsidy. A breed of artist has been raised that doesn't value skill or public appreciation. Go and look around you for the real contemporary artists and don't waste your time in art gallerys because they're not in there, they're all around the place making stuff that is actually useful or amusing. Thats my reading of 'The Fountian', though I believe the more conventional interpretation is that you can shove any old crap in an art gallery and claim to have done something unique and insightful.

There is also the issue of Gallery/Agents who try and influence the public's perceived output of an artist. They will say things like "You have several distinct bodies of work and we only want this one".They also try to preguess the public as if it was a homogenous audience. Comments like "I don't get it so the audience of viewers I "represent" certainly won't want (to buy) it".They are always thinking and acting in monetary bottom line terms. Then there can be the extreme when an agent takes one line of your works and wants you to keep churning output of the same stuff- they can prefer the formulaic and not want to see the artist grow or change or experiment. In my experience an artist can choose to use different arenas to get more of their work out there. Rather than play fiddle to just one place and same old same old.Printmaker's are traditionally known for breaking w tradition (ha ha) in the sense of not being afraid to address issues other artforms might not.Take for instance politics, street issues and personal and interpersonal communications as well as symbolism or just plain explorations of beauty or wrong and stupidities of this world.Z you've probably got it in you to use this prickling pear to do even more and what you perceive as now better artwork.Don't let them interrupt the creative flow as you'd think some amateur critics are out there to do- stem creativity...let them keep their front teeth- no use engaging in critique w them. Yes, I'd really like to hear the culturally motivating essence of this new line of work of yours.Sometime before I die...keep up the flow.

Aye; Paul, Teece and Michael, thanks for the advice and for me to know that other printmakers out there have worked the systems out also. You all certainly know how to put the written 'punches in', glad I'm on your team as well (as a player not as a 'monkey on your backs') as we swim the PNP river to the next bank. Are any of you ex-kick-boxers? You have all raised so many important and useful questions. Art dealers - now I'm just going to let that one alone for now. I'll upload the cultural essence blogg/story to the image tomorrow I hope. I was going to do it in the last few days but every time I sat down to type it, I would get a visitor. Central Station in the wilderness! I've finished the next 'beautiful' image (to my personal beautiful theme challenge). It's called 'Beauty Mate'. And yes, only because you asked 'nicely' are you going to get: clear blue skys with white cotton wool clouds; sunshine in a Tasmanian spring season; thousands of real, yellow daffodils in fields of lush green grass; native finches flying past; baby lambs playing next to their mums; a willowed trout stream and rolling hills fading to mountains. "Beauty Mate!" Only because you asked 'nicely'. Now back to yart.

Sounds good Z.Glad to know you've been working well and having a good time of it.There was also the whole issue bypassed of photography and cyberart and then multiples where the work is reasonably hi-tech and the artist limits the edition of originals. ie in multiples as prints are rightly called: they are not a copy of a "greater" work
but all equally valid as part of the edition. Then a fine artist chooses to LIMIT the edition so we are talking rarer edition sizes and not the thousands that demote a work to a simple poster:usually made for simple profit or to paper our cities as "news".So what were you going to tell us about the work in progress?

"Yart!" I was warned and advised it may happen one day to me. I had been told: 'so what happens one day when you least expect it that you turn around and see a beautiful bed of flowers right there beside you? Beauty Mate! What will you do? This did happen to me. IT did! While rushing to get the regular shopping done - only one last thing to buy (firelighters - smokeless, odourless and ignites instantly and burns for up to 9-11 minutes). I turned and glimpsed to my left. There at the end of the aisle - pure yart - a beautiful flower bed. My first defensive reaction was, careful you are standing beside your enemy. Then with jaw dropped and mouth wide open, a small moaning/groaning sound came out of my mouth: "YART", I said. Hopeing that nobody heard me yarting on, I thought, ooh such beauty! The flowers were staring me right in the face, looking right at me. Ooh such blinding beauty. Should I approach and acknowledge - flashes of on and right over the couch - or should I avoid/ignore and tell myself it's all an imaginary mirage, just pull yourself together and get on with the shopping and get home now. But no, I needed to confront and deal with the visionary possibilities in my mind. Nervously I walked to the end of the aisle and stood smiling, looking directly at the beautiful flower bed. I breathed deeply promising myself not to drop my jaw and rudely moan out the word 'yart'. My genunine smile was quickly wiped off my face as I looked more closely and saw that it was all fake. Fake petals/lines/fingernails, sham leaves/tone/tan, pesudo stems/colour/wig/hair colouring, phoney pollon/texture/plastic-surgery/make-up, dummy stigma/2 dimensional/coloured eye contact lenses, counterfeit stamen/3 dimensional/false/capped teeth, bogus water/dew drops/pretend/all plastic/environmentally unfriendly clothes and lastly the bodgie, floral/sham/scent/perfume smelling like imitation 'YOUR BAD'. From a distance the beauty seduced me but up close it's fakeness and ploy repulsed me. This is what we should have less of I thought as I grabbed a few packets of firelighters and quickly left the shop for home. Less of faking IT. Then a still small voice was heard in my mind while I was driving home (still getting over the 'beautiful' imposter and pretender that had tried to seduce/con me), IT said: "Make no graven image (copy) unto anything that is like on the earth, in the sky, heavens, or under the sea as IT is all an abomonation unto God!" Since then, I have put on my personal prayer list asking God if calligraphy is then OK? Yart!

Teece (Tindi Crosbie come on down/out), My mother and father have stopped worring about me, now both in their early 90's. We chat to each other as friends not as authoritian, biological, genetic relations. The "sins of the mothers and fathers" (see PS's similar titled work) have been dealt with and forgiven but not forgotten. Thought about doing a print about them for the '2005 Portrait' but feel it might be a bit 'too nepotism'. Have you applied online for this theme? Don't see your name on the list yet. As for Thwaaack! This should be discussed in relation to your new quality image about behaviour management in Oz Public Education.

Z was there a woman there too? Or were you also thinking about something else...female-and-male appearance improving ploys? Not being worth the trouble mostly either? It's interesting you should bring the two together in your written comments as this-is what I thought of when I saw gorgeous flowers underscored by fake IT: to me the It has the double meaning of fake it and fake internet technology.
One of the hardest things is internet dating/ have a girlfriend in a rural area engaged in it- and the heartbreak, disappointement and scammers are unbelievable. A recent book on it states "People CAN get to know eachother in a meaningful way but in reverse- from the inside out- then if they meet and are faced with the full package (interesting choice of words)they can be shocked, upset or at least disappointed when there is no physical chemistry if that was what they'd hoped for".Z had you had any thoughts along those lines? Anyway I also got this as a second layer from your work. So enjoyed several aspects of it.

Teece, I did not want it to be sex or gender specific, so that any person could interpret it in relation to their own context, no discrimination in relatin to sex or gender of which there is great diversity. But many people just see things in black and white only, eg. male/female. No place for multi-colours.

"Invest in 'BEAUTY and the PEACE'. Send your newly re-written "WILL" to PNP, willing everything to PNP as a "thank/you" for promoting "BEAUTY and the PEACE" in Taylor Square. Who sang that song "I never promised you a ROSE GARDEN", anyway? Imagine a beautuful and peaceful rose garden where the current de-construction, terrorist-look hole currently is! A bit much for the minimalist artists minds!

Michael this all looks a bit farmilar, are you dreaming of coming back to Sydney. I like the image though reminds me of the mission for homeless people up the road. As im back in Sydney now on my bike you see these places, I see alot of the square which isnt there at the moment just a big hole , maybe they are turning it into an undergraound car park, original hee.

Hey, Michael, I have to return back to Sydney to settle a few medico/legal issues, just to visit not to function/live. Can't believe the 'HOLE' is still there. The Govt. promise was to put a major water feature in Taylor Square to chase out the Street people and other Homeless people. Then the Seperatist Games lot filled it in and stopped the project. Then it started again but important historic relics were unearthed. Now what Michael, you say it's back to a "Bomb Creater Look". Groovey! As one of many people whom helped close Bourke Street years ago to make the area more people friendly - your news of what it's currently like angers me. No I'm not coming back to Sydney permanently, just to visit sometime in the future. I have 1 dog, 1 cat, 4 quails, 4 budgies, 2 drakes, 7 ducks, 2 roosters, 8 hens, 1 galah, 2 bantum chickens and mothers, also a fruit, nut and vege. garden to look after which I have just started to design and plant. No political crap/agendas to stop my garden happening. PS. I just "LOVE" Taylor Square!!!!!

OK, will do. Perhaps we could organise a group performance art statement by getting all people whom are "pissed off" with Taylor Square for whatever reason by getting them all to circle the Square and then "piss/urinate" (culturally relevant language to the area) into the hole all at once. Maybe we could call it "Hey dogs - What you've sowed you've reaped".

Hi Michael thanks for putting up your Solander image on line. This is a great idea maybe all the rest of the artists could upload their works as well. I will be sending all the images to Paul soon. I will also have a a finished power point presentation of all the i,ages and text for artists en of the month I hope. this can be used as visual presentation of the Solander by anyone who participated.
The image you presented for the Solander is a fantastic use of the object within the landscape location. I see the work as a representation of picture postcard promotion kind of like the posters we used to see on train stations up until the 1980s. However ever there is always a personal artistic approach with your work which has become signature style in past 10 years you have been with EPPM.
I can see your imagination going onto over drive with the 40 x a4 unique state project in 2011.
Great keep on hitting the we site becouse as far as I am concerned its available and open for business as usual.

•Moving on from Andy Warhol’s historic images of food labels, e.g. Campbell’s Soup Can Labels, printed serigraph series
•This series of images relate to NOW, 2010/11 and ongoing
•This series is also inspired by Anthony Sullivan, a EPNPM artist, e.g. the printed T Shirt of Gandhi “BE THE CHANGE”
•the most important question for me NOW in relation to printmaking, 2010/11, is that it is a “USEABLE” (wearable context print). Seen by the general public and not just the “Yarts” elite
• Therefore this series is about. USEABLE PRINTS
•this is the first image of the 40 images relating to today as useable prints
•The chiefs/cooks, yes, famous in their own mediums will be commenting on PNP, using AKA or Nick names
My role is that of observer, encourager and recorder
•I hope you enjoy
•DELICIOUS
