That is probably correct. There is a tendancy to underate the value of christianity to our society. Through it for the first time in human history we have a system of law that aims to protect each persons rights. Ethical behavior is not innate as we like to imagine, but learned from the people around us. PS I am an atheist.

No they didn't, and they don't much love now either. Unless you take love to mean the desire to fornicate with someone as publicised by William Shakespere in 'Romeo and Juliett'. The late great JC's advocation of love as an abiding empathy and adoration of all of mankind and God was radical and still is.

The trouble with christianity as like art and any other humanitys in the year 2002 is no one really cares. Its all money and ownership. People don't want to think to hard about anything but money.

Marrie and Michael, My past experiences in Adelaide have been positive ones, great inner city architure. Consider driving West and viewing the numerous remains of other organised, early, invader, religious cults as well. I love seeing grass growing back between the foundation stones, while looking at the sky and praising "GOD".

A church is like an art gallery. Both house from the inside and both are run by administrators. I dont believe administrators but the public get what they want and administrators are good at giving the public what they want. Believing in Art and Religion is made harder becouse of administrators becouse they only tell the storys from their point of veiw. Look to the streets, internets and media for something a little more in tune with the now. Churchs and art gallerys are very dated.

Michael, from my study and understanding, the original meaning of the word "church" meant: when 2 or 3 people gather together with like-minded spirt and simply agree together for something to be done. That was all it was. This could be done in a field, under a tree, or anywhere. But organisers saw how they could manipulate people and make a buck from the vunerable and those at risk in society, so they created organised religion for power and profit (and sex?). People have also turned to art galleries for the meaning to life. Thankfully today more people are understanding how to become self-empowerered and see their dreams, become visions, become tangible reality.

Yes I really like the last thought expressed Z and I think Churches were once also built so people could sit still, quietly, even alone perhaps and wait till their self was clear cause they'd thought thru all their mind and heart stuff and practical everday things.

Love lost a heart in a cloud of x's. Love is something we must find some day, some people never do the lucky ones will, but love is the anwser so everyone keep looking.

Laura, the trouble with an "X" behavioural pattern, is that it is so easy to cross off genuine Love when it comes along because of the non genuine experiences of one's past patterns. This art work makes me look at my own inner self.

Crap M. You are just so fullovit n fullovit.
Time makes people look at themselves n then they decide if they are gonna act or just believe/hope in re-incarnation/rebirth in a way they hope they can remember themselves. I've got an interesting take on thet but it seems YOU don't want to hear it.
You are too busy being in charge of yourself.
Laura love the way you let loose w the medium n the paper. It gives the paper a whole new ambience in the neg spaces n energy allover. Missing anything Z? Energy perhaps?
Dance around a bit more...mostly your comments are good.

Make a house of Love-------

Scannell's use of historical symbols again sets dialogue with the theme at hand. In script writng a letter is written on a folding house, no doubt represting the house of love people make for them selfs. But be careful as a looming red cloud is ever present.

It is so funny, in a way, the things people say in response to ones work. As the artist one has this sense of convistion as to the metaphors, symbols and signs used in the artwork. I was thinking about the idea of a home ie all of our homes.
The text on the house reads I love you love he loves she loves etc also I could have loved, I should have loved so its the subjective quandries one finds onself in within the very almost subconscious behaviour pertaining to how we love who we love etc. Regrets where love is concerned are also referenced.
I also liked the idea that the means were there, within the print ,if one dared, to make something new. You can cut out the template/shapes and make a little 3d house-form from the print. The figurative circle form above is concerning the idea of loving yourself (or a better way of putting it, is the idea of 'accepting' yoursef) Might sound a bit odd BUT many of us are very hard on ourselves. The means by which we judge ourselves are other peoples ideas and not our own

No this isn't washed up love. Rather I was impelled to wash the images down onto the shore...so to speak, I was fascinated w the way everyone on a recent trip I made to Japan had cameras. And as you may know Mz they point them at everything.(Kinda reminds me of an old Euro friend I had years ago/was telling the kids about. He had to impress his mother if he ever wanted a Bride/may/ve been Adonis.Anyway he did the world tour n asked tourists to hold his camera all the time.So heshowed us the slides n they went/Me/Leaning Tower/Me/Eiffel/Me/Piccadilly etc etc as
w the instant snap camera/and he gave it to tourists.Bcoz there was no depth of field he came back w a whole lot of pics of himself but blurred objects behind so it was all of him,him,him...)to get back to this shot I was blown over by all the locals cameras pointing at at everything they could find, even Nippons night lights and it was all too similar. So I took this photo by pointing where the Japanese never seem to appreciate and it was water and sand and waving seaweed and caps of the modern world. I'm glad you asked because I love it myself very much.
