A very dark and menacing womb like image, nature is truly a bodge up artist. . -Paul Somerset Reply
The heavy swirl of current a natural blackness decending. Or a natural day ritual. Great use of etching never the less . -Michael Florrimell Reply
I would like to see this print. Hard to tell if the texture is rough or smooth. Kind of comes across as dark and brooding. Like something awaiting out there in the wilds . -Richy Rich Reply
Colleen, at first I thought it was an image of the matching ear (Listen Here)to the one being held by the hand in the wooden box on the front of this web page, or was it an airel view of an open-cut mine, then I thought of 'Vincent's Ear' and what had happened to it! This comment is deliberately symbolic in style, as has been done with the mark-making in this art work. It also says to me; when you do something, do it with energy. I enjoy watching traditional, Chinese artists working with ink and brush and how they think before they act. . -Michael Zschech Reply
I understood that in the process of Chinese brushwork the artist is "visualizing" the energy of the form then transeffervesencing it thru their self till it communicates onto the surface. Thus it cannot be seen as a sterile "formed/formalized" ritualistic or dead artwork ie such as the high and post high periods of falling civilizations. The Japanese Sumi-e technique is perhaps the more "passive" as it is like the Tea ceremony (as I understand it) focussed on the moment of the brush/paper. The ink is the least to be thought about as/ just as the pottery was to be redolent of the incident of the NOW -the nearest we/you westerners can get to that notion is "Serendipity" or the PRAISEWORTHY accident ie incomparable/nonereproducible/irreproducible/unique/all things to be valued...especially in ceramixc glazes eg. The former, ironically generates a less plastic environment and the latter a contained energy/joke /like the contained galaxy on Orion's belt/the feline/ in MIB 1. Sushi anyone? . -Miso Reply

Interesting Lithography not etching Paul. The order of the gardener of flowers. . -Michael Florrimell Reply
Michael the print process is intaglio, a shallow etch as it was done with one layer of the non toxic photopolymer film 'Laminar'. The etch depth can be bulit up with sucessive layers of film but the almost 'not' quality was what I wanted for this print. . -Sandra-lee Reply
Sandra-Lee, Your work is subtle and pastle-like in mood. The words in your art work "CUT NEW" balances the contradicting line movements ; from grid pattern to spirial, swirl, free linear dirictional movements. What is your next art work? . -Michael Zschech Reply

Amazing Silkscreen, rich in colour and wonderful in subject. Butterfly's streeming towards light. . -Michael Florrimell Reply
Pinanuch, I have made many silk screen prints in the past and looking at your's encourages me to maybe do some more sometime. Thank you. Consider doing a print about the "grubs" before they become butterflies. . -Michael Zschech Reply
I've got some fantastic 'grubs' on my orange tree. When I bother them two crimson horns dripping with (suspected) toxic venom pop outfrom behind their heads and they arch their backs trying to dab it onto me. They don't get me of course, being a higher primate I employ primitive tool use for my bothering device. . -Paul Somerset Reply
Paul, You are a fortunate man to have witnessed that encounter. Your natural, real "grubs" would win in holistic, design concept, hands down, to that of any art gallery, imaginary "still life" work. Maybe the poison from their horns could be collected, tested then marketed. Was it a blade of grass you used to wake them up or did you use a magnification glass? You have a keen eye and observe details closely. What else do you have in your garden? Tell me more as I enjoy reading your comments. . -Michael Zschech Reply

Wonderful work. Silkscreen with gold leaf. This print also has a texture of ink on its surface. . -Michael Florrimell Reply
Chaivut, Top title: Nature/Religion. Nature/pure annamism/nature free spirit belief/respect/watch - Religion/organised finincial, social, psychological control by a few. When I see the new and fresh looking pyramid in your art work I think of the great pyramids of Egypt and the state they are currently in and how they will look in the future. The remains of organsied religion can also be seen throughout all of Australia. Do more art works. . -Michael Zschech Reply

I like the idea of printing on felt in fact any kind of material other than paper. The textile industry is full of interesting printing on materials eg curtains, wallpaper, plastic bags etc. . -Richy Rich Reply

I'm not sure what you're getting at, shouldn't this be in a science magazine. . -Rob King Reply
The research is not important enough to be in a science magazine and the prose style is too emotive. . -Paul Somerset Reply
Emotive is a good word for nature. We need to jump up and down. But yeah perhaps we also need people to become involved in saving our nature on mass. Voting green is great but we need everyone in the world to get active and start doing something to save whats left. Stop the greed and get on with it. . -Michael Florrimell Reply
For many people nature is not a lovely thing or a wonderful ideal and it never will be. For many it is a source of income, you can't just walk into places like Eden or Manjinup and tell the people there that they have to all go and do something else. If you want to protect nature you would be better off calculating the value of services provided by areas of natural habitat (air and water purification etc) and lay out a strictly economic arguement. . -Paul Somerset Reply
How can you say nature is not cute and wonderful? If you watch the Crocodile Hunter, Flipper, or Skippy you can see just how cute and wonderful it is. Nature comes with a nice soundtrack and dialogue. You don't even have to touch the televsion if you have a remote. If nature gets boring you can always watch something high-powered and exciting like the cricket or survivor. . -Jim Brodie Reply
I'm desesperatly looking to talk to Jim Brodie. Are you still in Australia? Would appreciate an answer Thanks Write me at korovo@yahoo.com . -Sebastien Hudon Reply
The bottom line for the Greens is social justice. They say fair, just and equitable society is the prerequesite to protecting the environment. . -Paul Somerset Reply
The bottom line for people is to go stand in a forest and see if they wont to do something about saving the natural world. Plenty of people look outside the bus window going through a natural enviroment but don't get out and touch the ground. Its about time they did. Its good for you. . -Bob Brown Reply
I was interested in the way our species is systematically scrutinising every the physical world. I didn't think this work was much to do with saving forests. Theres also some questions about where you find print, media and art these days. . -Paul Somerset Reply
Printmedia is most likely to be the place where most people see nature eg National Geographic Magazine. . -Susan Hollingsworth Reply
Printmedia in its mass form is there to inform the mass as to whats going on. The mass don't care if the facts are real or not. They just want to think eg nature is green and everything on the planet is A ok. . -Ken Clark Reply
Paul, This reminds me of current work and the last stage of each research project - accountability through measuring and graphing the success of each stage of the project. Data presentation is always praised if it looks like a designer art work, often without regard to the written contents, just as long as it looks good or nice - then that's good enough mate! Art and design play a large role in today's technological, ordinary, work places which are more like glass fish tanks in space devoid of any place for anything GREEN (as green equals dirt). You inspire me to go out right now and research something for a nice graphic art work! . -Michael Zschech Reply
Interesting comment on the art and design factor within our work places.Maybe the someone designing the programs came from oneof these backgrounds, does that make artists and designers the real rulers of the world. . -Michael Florrimell Reply
Michael, Of course - all you have to do is to have faith and believe without doubting and it then exists as you live it practically. Money can't buy it! . -Michael Zschech Reply
I'm always suprised how hard people are on our scientists. The thing about science is that it has to be right, their theories have to explain how our world works. Artists, at least the academic types, do not make very much sense to anyone. Thats why no one much wants to look at our work. . -Paul Somerset Reply
Paul, in a back handed sort of way, that is a complement because you are non conforming to art commercialism, and being original, cutting edge and inventive. However, praise is great to recieve. . -Michael Zschech Reply
No Praise here please. Science maybe if they started getting things wrong then we might start learning something useful about the world we live in. I mean all this Mars business how about the world we live in now. Thinking about a meaning ful life on mars ho ho ho. Stop the rubbish and start cleaning up our own world to start with. Science a lot like art to many dreamers not enough doers. . -Michael Florrimell Reply
Michael, personally I feel like praising and thanking people, MORE AND MORE, as apposed to "chopping the tall OZ poppy down syndrome" - culture change chat time. . -Michael Zschech Reply
Mars? You are confusing media with science. . -Rob Reply
Rob,"horse and carriage time?" . -Michael Zschech Reply
Maybe a solar car could help. Sceince does come up with good concepts now and again its just the greedy pollies and corps who stick to the ways of destroying thhe world for a bit more cash sack the lot of them. . -Michael Florrimell Reply
I aggree with Michael Z. More praise, less bagging people out. . -Paul Somerset Reply
Paul, someone once told me that "PRAISE WAS THE KEY TO THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN". I believe them, because of the numerous practical situations I have applied it to. I have seen the results. Brown- Noseing is the opposite to Praise. . -Michael Zschech Reply
eh? . -Rob Reply
Rob, I could be wrong. . -Michael Zschech Reply
No the praise bit is dead on in my opinion it was the solar car / greedy pollies bit that I was eh?ing . -Rob Reply
Rob, keep on eh?ing! . -Michael Zschech Reply
Ok enough erhing get back to greedy pollies. John and the gang are stirring the pot more and more bastards what are we going to do about them. Labour need a face lift the Demos are fighting in house and Green are chomping at the bit without enough backing. M1 the people for president of Australia. Get rid of all pollies now. . -Michael Florrimell Reply
Make sense not war! . -Rob Reply
Vehemence in Men can be such a turnoff. Alone. Without other motive. No Ehring here please,. Science n Religious Feeling were the two things that were once not separated. PRAISE Art, then we had to stuff it up by delegating power/thus pollies/policies/people n wars. It was so much simpler when we acknowledged the other tribe just may want AND TAKE what the Other lot had. Paul is making his statement in an honest as in (not)(dis)honest way. I can respect that.. . -FaNaNa Reply

Lovely image of space and china dolls, like the yellow line work, and floating flowers. . -Michael Florrimell Reply
Bob, this image allows me to imagine and travel through it freely, without being stopped by a "ROAD SIGN" on the journey. Spatial and non-tangible mood. What art work are you working on now? . -Michael Zschech Reply
Well as long as that's all it is. Thank God for that. Only that. There is no more.Close Curtains.Bow Shuffle Exit. Flowers given to the charwoman who keeps the Star on the dresing room door shiny..eat a chocolate...remove makeup blessed silence. Clear er conscience.Maybe time to rehearse the next play.Circle on manuscript.Uhming n ering by any audience member to be disregarded. Send costume to dry cleaners.Aida to follow M.Butterfly.Sign fanmail/some only...think of Grace n poor old topsy n diedre/a design worthy of Gordo but not of me..shethinks...oh well magic in the moment, but that is all all all.Er I may've liked this print. But I really don't want to think about it.Exits, the no smoking sign on the inside of the dressing room gives a mild pause for wry smile.Fanmail hah. . -Eleonora Reply
I find this work beautiful and disturbing. To me that says you mastered this image. It is very atmospherically redolent of water and ether.I like the way background and foreground counterpoise. The air and nature are full of peaceful spirits the Shinto faith called nigi-mi-tama and the viscuous vicious spirits of ari-mi-tama.The moment captured as the Samurai poises his sword...what to slash at??? The foreground is more contemporary as it brings an erupting spirit even to our modern consciousness... In a peaceful setting, life lurks and you've frightened the hell out of me...I love the Japanese movies based on ghosts. At the risk of redirecting attention from Oz Printmaking sumwun may like to check out woodblock printing at the www.Baren-suji site. . -Teece Reply

I like the title. Jungle Fever sounds active. Good bold chunky work. . -Jimmy Scott Reply
Gordeon, I would certainly get "Jungle Fever" if the red/death beast from the dark/gloom background came at me, as in your image from that green/life with white light background. Reminds me of early Coburn work and feral pig hunting in remote Queensland. Do more. . -Michael Zschech Reply
Gordo, great stuff, a combination of new and past, I like the contrast of the bold green of the jungle and the lighter feel of the feral elements. . -j.penrose Reply
Gordon,I do like this print. Could you also have done it in Chine Colle? This is the stuff I'd like to try. Brett Whitely talked about the use of an energizing nervous line( his monkey)..but I think you've got it as a an energy field vibrating over a subject usually observed by us mere mortals as a series of masses against atmospheres...reminds me of "Tiger Tiger burning bright..." Awesome. . -Mame Reply
