Digital print and printmaking - when is it okay.

Partners in Print portfolios have been controversial in including digital media (and CD-ROM in the past). Is digital print in a printmaking context?

No CD requried for Unique State Portfolio project. dead line now 1st April 2011 -  Michael Florrimell 8/7/2010
Hi all Unique state portfolio artists. There have been two changes to the Unique State Portfolio projects due to artists complaining about the work load. The first change is to the dead line which is now 1st April 2011. The second change is we do not require a CD recording of the 40 works due to artists not wanting to complete this part of the project. Please send only the 40 unique state prints by the 1st April 2011 in water proof packaging. Make sure you write clearly your return address and included a return envelope. Again thanks to all the artists participating. If you do not want to complete the project contact Michael asap as we need to fill your place asap. Michael Florrimell

Solander Catalogue and Solander box on the way soon. -  Michael Florrimel 3/1/2010
Hello all Solander artists the catalogue and digital catalogue for the Solander are nearly finished proof reading will be this weekend. Sorry it has taken an age as many corrections were needed in statements and updated collection lists etc etc. The Solander and catalogue should be in the mail to London by Easter I hope. As I have been working on PNP solo for the past year and a half the projects take up a lot more time. I will be looking for Melbourne artists to help out in the future on projects esp the ones participating in 2011 and 2012. EPPM is a non profit artists run organisation and we need artists to stand up and do a bit of the work with us if they want projects to run on time and in transition. Remember by throwing in ideas and a bit of work you get to have your say on how the projects fair in the future. I do thank everyone however for there support and hope to mention the EPPM projects as part of my Confirmation lecture at Monash University on the 3 August. I will email a draft when available. All the best for now

Unique State Project 2009 - 2011 -  Michael Florrimell 11/1/2009
The Unique State portfolio project is now well under way with artists taking up first round offers. The projects outline was directed over coffee by Michael Florrimell, Jodi Heffernan and Julie Lancaster late in Sept 2009. The project started out as a 20th year portfolio celebrating Partners in Prints 20th year of activitys in exchange portfolios and donation to major printmaking collections. At the meeting we decided we would like to pursue to regualr avenues of direction in Partners in Print history. The exchange portfolio in combination with the Solander projects unique prints(one off works) not editions. The Unique State project is a for runner to a project in 2012 Michael Florrimell is working on called SIZE UP project. This project will involve 12 Australian artists who will present a survey show of printmaking/media. SIZE UP project work will be small panel works up to A1 in size whcih will be presented in a Archive solander box from each artist involved. The works will size up to Billboard works out of the box. The projects concerns and concepts are in line and aimed at the use of Archive, and public exhibtion ? display of archival print on a large scale. Michael Florrimell is interested in the survey of a group of long term working printmakers making work from the early 1990's until now. A catolague of the works and statement will be produced for the Size Up project. More information on the SIZE UP project will be given to selected artists at a later stage.
I have something to say about that!

Hi Michael and Team, I have been working on the 40 print 'Size Up' project. It's coming together. Have gone through lots of draft ideas and thrown them all into the bin but I'm now happy with what I going to submit, considering the audience, medium and message. Might start uploading each of the 40 A1 size images onto PNP gallery for comment and/or response. . -Mykal Zschech - 2/25/2010 Reply
Hi Michael the uploading sounds like a good idea. Would be good if they were in sequence. Still alot of time left sorry I have been working on the catalouge and Solander box still taking ages to finish. Also trying to get my confirmation down and dust for Monash etc etc. I will email all U/S artists after August with an up date. So far a few more regionals interested etc etc. PS its the Unique State Project Size Up is next in 2012 still to be put together hahaha. Ok have fun. . -Michael Florrimell - 2/26/2010 Reply
OK, they will be put in sequence (1 to 40). Will get all of the exhibition names 'right' on day! I'm glad a couple of other non-art projects I've been involved with have almost come to an end which will allow me to focus on PNP prints and 'my garden' sculptures for some time. Non-art projects really bore the shit out of me and especially the vile, Mathematical Capo's trying to rule every decision. Right over them and all soon to be history! Great! . -Mykal Zschech - 2/28/2010 Reply
Hi Mike. I know all the project titles are a bit much however I will be going back to the old portfolio exchanges in 2012 when we do the Size Up show as I can only do that with Monash people as its part of my PHD etc. Still I am working on making it exciting this time around. I will get artists to join Inkteraction world wide printmakers site and get Paul working on the PHP site again. Even throw in face book if on it make me a friend plus other user sites etc. I want to make the portfolios more unique and will incorporate drawing and painting into the projects so instead of editions artists can make 20 or more paintings or combinations of media. etc. I am realy excited about the Solander I have just finished the catalogue its a one of hard cover which will go to London with the prints. I am getting the Solander made out of wood and Perspex nowas the glass was to hard for them to make and way to heavy. I hope to send it all before Easter. I have started working on a powerpoint catalogue of the Solander and statements which I may be able to email the artists. All a bit much doing it solo these days but really enjoying the changes to the projects. Hang in there mate and keep rocking the block with art works. . -Michael Florrimell - 3/1/2010 Reply
