Hi Jim most likey around the end of July 2009. The work is 56 x 76 cms any weight or kind of acid free paper if you want to go larger this is ok as you can make a folding piece just as long as it folds to 56 x 76 cms. It can be a one of work any medium you like. I will need a A4 12 point page statement or shorter to accomp the work on its travels around Aus. I would like to bring the solander up to Brisbane to show artists students and staff the finished solander of works. Let me know if you would be interested Ant Sullivan live up there and a few artists from Lismore so touring it won't be a prob. Ok man I'll send offical stating forms late Oct as we are waiting on the NGA to pass the last 5 portfolos for their collection. Then it will be all go go go.

Ok Michael. Thanks for the info. A couple of things if you are coming to Queeensland, home of most of the medal winners from Australia at the olympics, check out the State Library. The James HLibrary has an excellent collection of Artists boks and folio. I will try to get you a contact name. The library also has an exhibition space. Is there any particular theme for the exhibition? Should it be "Queensland: home of the champions." You know the consensus of opinion in the sunshine state is that Queensland should send its own team to the olympics and keep all of the medals in Brisbane. After all the Prime Minister is from Queensland. Perhaps the state should change it''s name to Ruddopia. This is because

Hi Jim no themes we just want typical signature Jim Brodie work. One piece only. State Library sounds good. Yes maybe the Olymipic theme would be good if you want to persue it as the 2012 games are in London. More info as soon as it comes to hand. We are waiting on the NGA to make a dec on the 5 portfolios donated to them in October. All good from London be back late next week.

Fine Michael I'll have a think about this. The possibilites seem huge, or AWESOME as the Olympic atheletes say. Why doesn't Australia become a Republic and shake off its colonial ties. We could remame everything. Kevin in Ruddopia instead of Brisbane in Queensland. John in New South Howard instead of Sydney in NSA. Ablett in Aussie Rules instead of Melbourne in Victoria. Hawkie in Freeo instead of Perth in WA. We could change all of the political role names. The PM could be the Boss Cocky or the Tall Poppy.. The Treasurer could be the Standover Man. The Minister for the Arts could be the Kylie. The Minister for Veterans Affairs could be Minister for the RSL. The Minster for the Enviornment could be The Bob Brown or King Coal. The Minister for Sport could be the Thorpie or the Kathy Freeman. The Minister for Transport could be the QANTAS. The Minister for Health could be the Vegimite or the Tim Tam. Well those are just some possiilities. We could rename Australia Down Under and change the national anthem to Waltsing Matilida. At least everybody knows the words. We could move the national capital to the Alice and insist that all of the pollies and their staff live in humpies with no airconditioning. We could sell Tasmaina to China or India to be used their excess population. We could declare war on new Zealand, conquer it, and send all of th Kiwis back home, except for Russell Crowe. Well thse are m immediate thoughts on this issue. Regards jim Brodie

Hi Jim Yes that's it a huge map of Australia with all the Labour leaders pics and names on each state this would be a good educational tool for the touring side of the solander. Also fill the Uk end in on our now politics they look like going back to conservative party here so if Labour are in Aus in 2010 when the solander gets here for the show it might make everyone thing wow the 3rd party opion is not so bad after all. This sounds like the stuff prints are made of Jim Mate I reckon your on a winner with this proposal. Meeting went well here yesterday we are still looking at opions maybe only exhibiting the solander then bringing it back. Maybe donation will not be a factor this time around as I have been advised to keep it in Australia after tour as a tool for perhaps another larger Printmedia show where we can go up to a couple of metres in size. What ever man I want you along for the ride keep up the good stuff. I'll be sending release forms and all info around November. If you can think up a few more Queensland artists in photography and graphic design or print areas let me know I would like a few more from up your way. I'll get hold of Ant Sullivan when I get back and give you his email he lives in Padington I think Brisbane hes the silkscreen tee shirt guy really out there and like a good old political stunt every now and again.

Hi Michael Sorry for the delayed reply,. I've been painting, my house, baseboards and more undercoating. This is fun. If the show is going to tour England I suppose we would have to think about reconfiguring Australia to reflect both our new post colonial status and use icons with which the Poms are familiar. This could mean Dame Edna as our new President for Life. Perhaps the Minister for Sport and Women's Rights could be the Warnie. We could change the coat of arms to have a Sporting Hero and heronine instead of a roo and an emu. There was an article in the Sunday mail this weekend about all of the animals in Australia which are now extinct, and those facing extinction like some kinds of wallabies and kangaroos. I think this is a good example of our settler culture's ability to improve on nature. I mean what have kangaroos ever done for Australia, aside from Skippy and the one on all of the Quantas planes. The coat of arms could be renewed aftyer every Olympics year via a referendum to get new sporting heros on the coat of arms. To bring Australia into line with the rest of civilisation we have to look at creating two , or three new countries oon the coninent. Look an all of the other continets like the Americas, Asia and Europe. Ther are all kinds of countires on each continent. Lets reconfigure Australia. We could have a New North Downunder based on what used to be QLD, the NT, and WA. We could include the top of SA and NSW. I mean really Byron Bay and Kingcliff have good beaches and music festivals so they really should be part of our new nation. I think the quality of life in Queensland deteriorated when the Commonwealth forced us to amalgamate the Qld Army and Naval Brigade into the ADF. Now all of the southerners are coming up here and forcing up house prices and land values. Noosa and the Gold Coast are like trendy suburbs of Sydney and Melbourne. This has to stop. We could then have Old Australia which could be VIC, southern NSW and Tasmania. This could also be called the Rustbucket. The only problem with this would be running two national Rugby League and AFL competitions and the fact that citizens of New North Downunder would have import their leatherwood honey from the Rustbucket. I know the Holden plant is in one of the southern states but we could develop a downundermobile which is totally solar (for the Greenies) or nuclear powered (keep the miners onside). Well there are my most recent thoughts on this great question. PS Do you have an email contact for Ant Sullivan?
