Great work. Don't see a lot of mezzotint work these days but when you do it shows us the history of print has not changed much in its reproductive form. Only in the way machines have changed. Just more button pushing these days. . -Michael Florrimell Reply
Terry, I remember and respect the amount of work, time and patience that goes into making art in this medium. Great detail, tone and line. . -Michael Zschech Reply
Maybe its all the food for thought stacked in the larder. Maybe this where we should start to discuss this work. I mean its not a Macs Hamburger larder is it. Food is important and we should try to eat well. Any takers. . -Michael Florrmell Reply
Michael, Isn't it a symbolic puppet? . -Michael Zschech Reply
Food is important if Mac ers stopped there beef production now we would retain a large amount of rain forest and land. American Hamburger eaters are munching there way through the worlds forests faster than the cows. . -Michael Florrimell Reply
Michael, I'm not sure if American cows are able to regergitate their cuds properly anymore in 2002. . -Michael Zschech Reply
Rrrrr Enough of the cows already, enough of the food already back to the work at hand. . -Richy Rich Reply
Fantastic work an old time artist. . -Paul Somerset Reply

Excellent aliens in Australia lets hope they get John Howard and take him away fast. Great sence of humor good to see some artist have a good time with there work. Lifes to short. . -Michael Florrimell Reply
Here is an extreemaly odd take on the recent redistribution of Australian culture. I hope I am not the only one confused and upset by the events of the last six months. Artists need to do a good lot of unraveling of these events I believe. Perhaps a pnp aliens portfolio is required. . -Paul Somerset Reply
Extermely odd take? I keep making these images of Moreton Bay in beautiful downtown Queensland with a large Aboriginal sacred site, Nourlangie Rock, from the Northern Territory, stuck in the middle of it. Nobody ever mentions that. I guess were too busy looking at the Australian landscape from a Eurocentric pont of view. Maybe if I put the an image of Stonehenge or Westminster Abbey in the images people woud notice this type of inconsistency. . -Jim Brodie Reply
Most Australian would not know an Aboriginal Icon if they fell over it. Most don't even know anything of Australian History. I recommend John Berger - Silent Country first off for a true account. . -Susan Gate Reply
Thats Pilger nitwit. Australias only left wing journo who now is totally unable to get any work here. . -Paul Somerset Reply
OH sorry I was watching the John Berger doc on the last remain hope SBS and got him mixed up with the great Australia John Pilger. Opps I've done it again. . -Susan Gate Reply
That's right Paul. Pilger is the journalist and Berger is the art/social critic. However when you get down to their beliefs on how society should function I don't think there's that much difference between the two. Leftwing art criticism versus left wing social criticism. The last I heard berger lives in Fance and Pilger lives in England . -Jim Brodie Reply
Yeah I suppose they do live in different countrys to where they started but, maybe its a bit close to home for a critic living in their own country. Maybe it broadens the horizons as well. . -Michael Florrimell Reply
Jim, What a terrific detention center. You should be asked to design all of the new detention centers currently under construction throughout Australia. I think some of the inmates in many of the NSW Juvenile Justice Detention Centers would respect and welcome you as a detention designer. Great swimming pool! Even better 'ROCK', but where did those "mossies" come from? . -Michael Zschech Reply
No detention centres please. I mean remember back to high school detention it was boring and unjust. Let all refugees out of detention centres now its in human and a sorry state in a rich country like Australia. We goal people for doing wrong when we should help them come to terms with their problem. No easy answers but a little understanding and help can go a long way. . -Michael Florrimell Reply
Michael, "PANDORE'S BOX SYNDROME"? . -Michael Zschech Reply
No negitive vibe on this very serious matter free the refugees now there is no other answer. Its up to those who believe in a fare and just world to stand up to those who are just plan racists. . -Michael Florrimell Reply
Michael, Racism can be discuised in many forms of mediums and messages. From whose context do we look at the issue? Yours? Mine? Your next door neighbour's? . -Michael Zschech Reply
I agree Michael Whos point of veiw is the right or wrong one. Basic sence should act for us all on racism issues. Dont be Racist people every one got love one another right now yeah. Cool chill we can all get together right now man. . -Richy Rich Reply

Into the sun they go on a hot californian day. Very interesting print looks like a water colour painting but digital, cool. Hand made paper interesting as well. . -Michael Florrimell Reply
Kristian, This reminds me of early Munch styles and has a mood similar to the "Scream" in some ways. I love hand made paper. What is this paper made of? Did you make it? . -Michael Zschech Reply
Believe it or not the paper is brought straight out of a shop. The print was produced on a Epson 600. Its amazing what they will come up with. . -Michael Florrimell Reply
Michael, what is the name, phone number and address of that shop? . -Michael Zschech Reply
hi Michael, www.paperworkstudio.com.au is the supplier. I got this 'Linen Ivory 100gsm' from Penfolds in Crows Nest. Funny that this should remind you of Scream - total opposite impression intended ;) does the word life remind you of death? :) . -Kristian Doyle Reply
Kristian, In some ways , yes life does remind me of death, as both coexist together, and you have to go through one to get to the other, in some ways! As for the "SCREAM", my comment was a comment from my heart not from my head. I see that image as about: wake up, the light, a revelation, something to be seen, a new path road, walk with me or similar thought patterns. Thanks for the paper suppliers address. I will contact them. . -Michael Zschech Reply

This work was produced as a reference to the idea nature in personal experience. First one has to ask oneself what is nature to oneself. Living in Katoomba when I produced this work, nature was experiecing the Australia bushlands of the Blue Mountains. Best done by one self. The idea of the word nature stuck to a tree begs the question of the word itself. Importance is self experience with in the word if you really want that expereince then you should find what nature is to you and then go and be involved, not just talk about it. Kind of like this print its only a copy of my experience. Go find your own. . -Michael Florrimell Reply
Yes I wonder who has experienced nature by themselves. Not to many I expect. Most namby pamby latte sipping innercity artists would crap themselves if they had to kip down in the bush alone far from their little tin toys. . -Rob King Reply
Looks like someone has been out walking in the forest. Dont know about sticking photocopy's to trees in national parks. All this to prove a point about public art in a natural setting. Maybe artists should just keep away from nature and paint gum trees from their studios. . -Richy Rich Reply
Michael, When I first saw this image I thought that someone has "a opossum problem" in their back yard. In the local Botanical Gardens, I see lots of trees with bases wrapped in plastic or wrapped in tin. At first I thought, "This looks gross and is out of context". After a closer inspection I realised that if someone hadn't taken the time to do that, then the trees would have been slowly scratched to death by the over populated opossum population. Wonderful trees in your image. Did you hug them as well? . -Michael Zschech Reply
The use of the photocopy in the tree was only temporal. For the photograph that is. Public art in a print context has only a short time factor so photographing the event in this case, was the most important aspect of the doing of the work. The idea of nature the word in any given public area is it's reference to that area. Maybe without the trees the photocopy of the word nature could mean anywhere at all. It is up to us to choose individually where we understand nature to be. I choose the green wilderness. . -Michael Florrimell Reply
Michael, Interesting previous comments: I have searched and found many diverse, personal and natural sites in my travels - truely wonderful to be there alone and think. 2. Most inner city artists I know have lived in amazingly diverse environments - true gypsies/change agents in cultural movements. 3. What is a mono-myopic viewpoint of an artist's studio - La French? 4.Temporal Awareness? Followed by temporal Access? Followed by Participation? Followed by Accountability? . -Michael Zschech Reply
Yeah well there are a lot of artists out there and there all doing or thinking something. Accountability in this work was to rip the photocopy of the tree before leaving. Temporal access was public space, temporal awareness time and day in a space in time, Participation was acting out the process and documentation. Being a true gypsie is being born as one and believing you are one. . -Michael Florrimell Reply
Michael, a gypsie? Is your ethnic heritage "Holistic Check Zone"? That's where the original gypsies came from. I think I'm more now "Korrie Nomadic" in my travel patterns. . -Michael Zschech Reply
Umm yeah like you live in Sydney dont you. not that this is not nomatic but really you living of the land or something. Public work is not about position its about doing or thinking about it. . -Michael Florrimell Reply
Michael, Be assured I'm thinking and doing! As for me, I am currently living in Inner City Sydney , yes that is where currently WORK, (NOT LIVE BUT FUNCTION), but if you want me to give you a list of all the diverse, global locations I have lived in, I will do to prove to you I am not am iminitation gyspie. As for public art "KEEP AWARNESS HAPPENING" . -Michael Zschech Reply
Wow keep your shirt on man cool down, im sure your working and living in the city and hay your doing a great on these comment pages nothing personal man. You do not have to prove anything just keep up the great comments etc. Chill brother. . -Michael Florrimell Reply
Michael, It's not the shirt that's the problem. It's the tofu concept. . -Michael Zschech Reply
Tofu has nothing to do with this print. Its about coming to terms with nature. Not about humans activitys in nature. . -Michael Florrimell Reply

Interesting use of materials and I like the BYO pollution in the Sunglasses is that real pollution type stuff under that plastic. . -Michael Florrimell Reply
Very 2001 pollution everywhere we look through our tinted glasses. Time to put a stop to it and start the clean up. . -Richy Rich Reply
Jane, The yellow mark makes me think of the sea/dragon/horses that have just started to come back into Sydney Harbor. It's great to know that some past, badly pollouted areas are re generating again. But so much more to go. Good understandable statement. . -Michael Zschech Reply
The more I see this work the more I like it. The plastic material finish is great proving there is more to print than paper. The Idea of pollution as every day life is also interesting its amazing how we have adapted to the stink. We need to do something about cars and bus in citys just been to Aderliade which sits bellow the mountains. No good if you are walking around the city and suburbs of Aderliade. . -Michael Florrimell Reply
Michael, "more to print than paper! - hey! - 2002 - what about cyberart print; something for every person and something that can never be touched, (but can be downloaded and printed if materialism touch is needed for greater understanding). . -Michael Zschech Reply
I love this thing also - the one I recieved is a shiny pink polluted bit o cloth with mesh and nametag. conjures up all sorts of impressions in my dirty mind. Mic I also agree something must be done about all the cars. I do my bit every day to dodge and swerve between rows of 2ton bits of petrol guzzling metal on the motorbike, but instead of catching on to the concept they just shout and swear ;) . -Kristian Doyle Reply
Kristian, Thank GOD or NOGOD (depending on ?). Why do you consider that you have a dirty mind in relation to the print you received. Where did you inherit or learn of the concept of a "dirty mind" from? Have you considered that you have a good, functioning mind. You hate cars because of past experiences and enjoy motor bike rideing. Great! Sounds to me like you are a together person and enjoying life. What more do you want? . -Michael Zschech Reply
Yeah who said you had a dirty mind. Does dirty mean sex or human fuctions becouse they are not dirty they are natural so keep up the clean stuff. . -Michael Florrimell Reply

A gem of a cd rom sensitive to the core, A real concern for the natural elements are so obvious in Jodi's work. Passing, hiding, flying motions deep down in the forest, of this artists imagination. Excellent. . -Michael Florrimell Reply

An interesting use of meduims. The strong image etching goes well with the white on white embossing. A good play on paper and meduims. . -Michael Florrimel Reply
Anne-Maree, Your print is challenging to view and brings to mind diverse memories. TOP:Psy/clouds/up there/in your mind - BOTTOM:Clone/Drinking from the same traditional(empty)cup, passed from one to the other, looking good but empty. I hope the "Top Cloud" above rains soon. The amount of writing in this print is like the amount of debate in the green movement. I t may be a good thing to talk about saving the envoirment but another thing to do something about it. Its now or never as time is running out fast so get to it. . -Richy Rich Reply
Dragan, great symbolic and simplistic image. . -Michael Zschech Reply
The comment that time is running out for the world or the green movement really scares me,even if it is less than 3 weeks to xmas.Or actually I think xtra coz of that cause then ya get all these people cutting down trees. Then they have to wrap tons of giftwrap for however many are in there families(who knows)n then we've killed another million trees. I had this thought that if sumwhere in say /who knows'we cut down one more tree-zzzzlimo-the planet's doomed.Waddya think? . -magnoliablue Reply
